User Tips

  • For best transcription, speak slowly and clearly, and minimize any background noises such as radio, television, or traffic.
  • You can create multiple items and do any combination of adding, sharing, and recalling in one call.
  • reQall provides longer explanations the first few times you call. reQall will talk less as you become familiar with the system.
  • See a visual flow of a call here.

What reQall Understands Back to top

reQall recognizes certain keywords and uses them to organize your items.

Keyword Location Result
“Buy” Anywhere in the item Adds the item to your  Shopping List.
Example: “Buy milk, eggs, and diapers.”
“Note” First word Creates a Note.
Example: “Note: Jesse’s address is 434 Maple Terrace.”
“Meet” or “Meeting” First word Creates a special kind of To-Do that is labeled as an “event.” For Pro users, meetings go into the Outlook calendar.
Example: “Meet John today at 3:30 pm”
“Ask” or “Tell” or “Remind” [followed by an email address or the name of a reQall contact] First word when adding by text; must use For button when adding by voice Creates a To-Do for your contact.
Example: “Tell Sarah to pick up Maria after school tomorrow.”
If you want it to be added to your contact’s Shopping List, include the word “buy.”
Example: “Remind Roger to buy bread after work today.”
“at work” or “at home” (Pro only) Anywhere in the item Sets the Place for your item.
Example: “Tell Erin to pick up her room at home tomorrow.”

User Tips

  • Items that don't contain any of the above keywords are assumed to be regular To-Dos.

reQall also understands dates and times, including recurring dates.

  • Days of the week ("Monday," "Tuesday")
  • Dates ("January 11," "August 31st," "January 2, 2008")
  • "Today," "tomorrow," "yesterday"
  • "This Thursday" (the first Thursday that occurs after today)
  • "Next Thursday" (the second Thursday that occurs after today)
  • Times such as 10:30, 10:30 p.m., 8 am

Recurring dates include phrases such as "every Friday," "each year on September 15th", and "every month on the second Tuesday." reQall requires recurring dates to follow these rules:

  • The recurring date must be at the end of the item.
  • You must start the phrase with "each" or "every" followed by a time period or day of the week.
  • You can add a time after the phrase. For example, "every Friday at 7:30 p.m."
  • You can add an end date at the end of the phrase, using the word "until." For example, "every Friday at 7:30 p.m. until August 10th."

User Tips

  • If an item has a date but no time, it is created at 9:00 a.m. unless the date is today. Items for today are scheduled 3 hours in the future.
  • If an item has a time but no date, it is created for today, even if the time has already passed.
  • If a time doesn't have a.m./p.m., times from 7:00 to 11:59 are assumed to be a.m. Times from 12:00 to 6:59 are assumed to be p.m.
  • When using text to create an item, numbers must have a colon or an a.m./p.m. to be recognized as a time.
  • When using text to create an item, use two periods (a.m. or p.m.) or no periods (am or pm).

My To-Dos

To-Dos are tasks that need to be completed (as opposed to Notes, which are facts or other information). To-Dos can have a date associated with them, but a date is not required. A To-Do that does not have a specific date is put on your Today list. Other lists are Soon (which is within the next week), Later and Overdue.

  My To-dos

Shopping List

Any time you use the word "buy" in an item, it will show up on this list.

  Shopping List

My Notes

Notes are facts or other information, rather than tasks that need to be completed. Items that start with the word "note" will be placed on this list.

  My Notes

My Places (Pro only)

Places can be used to group items with or without a geo-location. On the web you can see a list of your Places, edit their names, and see their location on a map.

  My Places

My Contacts

Contacts include those you've added or imported on the web, as well as iPhone or BlackBerry contacts that you've shared with. On the web you can see a list of your contacts, add or import new ones, edit their information and invite them to try reQall.

Tip: You do not need to import your iPhone or BlackBerry contacts as reQall for iPhone and reQall for BlackBerry integrate your local contact lists automatically.

Here's an overview of the most important options:

Web Access - You can change your password, change the number of items you see at one time, and choose a global setting to hide items once they've been completed.

Phone Access - You can enter up to five different phone numbers. If you call reQall from any of these numbers, reQall will recognize you automatically. You can also select a 6-digit security PIN if you want to call reQall from other phones. If you select a PIN, you will have to use it every time you call, even if you are calling from a registered number.

Notification - This page lets you to decide how and when you would like to be reminded. You can have transcripts of audio items sent via email, text messaging and/or instant messaging. You can receive a daily email at a certain time to let you know all your To-Dos for the day. And you can let reQall know how you want to be reminded of appointments (email, text, and/or IM) and how far ahead you want to be reminded. This is also where you enter the phone number where you want text messages sent. Note: Text messages are only available with a reQall Pro account.

Calendar Integration - With a reQall Pro account you can follow instructions on this page to integrate with Outlook or Google Calendar.   Image_qs_notification
