From one of the main screens, tap + to add by text or voice. reQall defaults to the last method you used.
To add by voice, tap the Add by Voice button if needed.
- You'll see an animation showing examples of what reQall understands.
- Tap anywhere to start recording. A line moves up the screen to indicate how much of the 30-second recording time you have used. An audio level meter is on the right edge of the screen.
- Tap the screen again to stop recording.
- reQall will auto-save your recording in 5 seconds and auto-organize for you it based on What reQall Understands.
- If you want to manually organize your item, tap the screen before the 5-second countdown reaches zero. You'll then be able to tap boxes for In, For and At to manually specify the type of item (To-Do, Note, Shopping List item), select who to share the item with and assign a Place.
Note: reQall Standard does not include an At box for assigning a Place.
See a video tutorial.
To add by text, tap the Add by Text button if needed.
- Type your message. reQall will auto-organize your item based on What reQall Understands.
- You can optionally tap the area below the text box to manually specify the type of item (To-Do, Note, Shopping List item), select who to share the item with and assign a Place.
Note: reQall Standard does not include an At box for assigning a Place.

Add items to reQall by voice simply by bringing your iPhone to your ear when reQall is running.
- Sometimes, it takes a quick motion.
- When your iPhone vibrates, audio recording has started. Say what you want to remember. reQall will auto-organize your item based on What reQall Understands.
- Move the iPhone away from your ear. The iPhone will vibrate again indicating recording has stopped and you’ll momentarily see a screen like the one on the right.
Note: This feature only works with iPhones, not iPod touch. You must have Pro account.

reQall recognizes certain keywords and uses them to organize your items.
|
| Keyword |
Location |
Result |
| “Buy” |
Anywhere in the item |
Adds the item to your Shopping List. Example: “Buy milk, eggs, and diapers.” |
| “Note” |
First word |
Creates a Note. Example: “Note: Jesse’s address is 434 Maple Terrace.” |
| “Meet” or “Meeting” |
First word |
Creates a special kind of To-Do that is labeled as an “event.” For Pro users, meetings go into the Outlook calendar. Example: “Meet John today at 3:30 pm” |
| “Ask” or “Tell” or “Remind” [followed by an email address or the name of a reQall contact] |
First word when adding by text; must use For button when adding by voice |
Creates a To-Do for your contact. Example: “Tell Sarah to pick up Maria after school tomorrow.” If you want it to be added to your contact’s Shopping List, include the word “buy.” Example: “Remind Roger to buy bread after work today.” |
| “at work” or “at home” (Pro only) |
Anywhere in the item |
Sets the Place for your item. Example: “Tell Erin to pick up her room at home tomorrow.” |
|
|

- Items that don't contain any of the above keywords are assumed to be regular To-Dos.
|
reQall also understands dates and times, including recurring dates.
- Days of the week ("Monday," "Tuesday")
- Dates ("January 11," "August 31st," "January 2, 2008")
- "Today," "tomorrow," "yesterday"
- "This Thursday" (the first Thursday that occurs after today)
- "Next Thursday" (the second Thursday that occurs after today)
- Times such as 10:30, 10:30 p.m., 8 am
Recurring dates include phrases such as "every Friday," "each year on September 15th", and "every month on the second Tuesday." reQall requires recurring dates to follow these rules:
- The recurring date must be at the end of the item.
- You must start the phrase with "each" or "every" followed by a time period or day of the week.
- You can add a time after the phrase. For example, "every Friday at 7:30 p.m."
- You can add an end date at the end of the phrase, using the word "until." For example, "every Friday at 7:30 p.m. until August 10th."
|
|
 |
|
|

- If an item has a date but no time, it is created at 9:00 a.m. unless the date is today. Items for today are scheduled 3 hours in the future.
- If an item has a time but no date, it is created for today, even if the time has already passed.
- If a time doesn't have a.m./p.m., times from 7:00 to 11:59 are assumed to be a.m. Times from 12:00 to 6:59 are assumed to be p.m.
- When using text to create an item, numbers must have a colon or an a.m./p.m. to be recognized as a time.
- When using text to create an item, use two periods (a.m. or p.m.) or no periods (am or pm).

- Forgotten lists items that the Memory Jogger predicts are in danger of being forgotten or where a periodic "memory refresher" might help keep your memory strong. (Pro only)
- Tips: For 7 days after you sign up for reQall, you'll receive tips here on how to use reQall.
- The Shake for EureQa! feature selects an item to jog your memory whenever you shake your iPhone. You can turn this feature on or off in the reQall Settings on the iPhone.

- Tap on the Edit icon to display the editable fields. Make whatever changes you want and tap Save.

- Email addresses, phone numbers, and URLs are underlined in blue and tappable. The Action icon shows additional actions such as "call <person name>" and search YouTube.
- Tap on Show related items to see other items in reQall or in your Evernote account that are related to this item. reQall determines what is related by looking at the content of the item (reQall Pro only).

You can share with anyone—even if they're not a reQall user.
- When you share to another reQall user, the reminder is added to their reQall account. When you share with someone who doesn’t use reQall, the reminder is sent by email.
- When you're adding by text, you can type Ask, Tell or Remind followed by an email address. For example, "Ask joe123@gmail.com to call about the order."
- With both Add by Text and Add by Voice, you can select the For button and select a contact. Both your reQall contacts and your iPhone contacts that have email addresses will be displayed. A reQall contact is a contact you've added or imported via the web interface or previously shared a reminder with.
- For reQall contacts (including iPhone contacts that you've previously shared with), you can include their name in the item when you add by text. For example, "Ask Joe to call about the order."

reQall can automatically find items in your Evernote account that are related to your reQall items.
- To link your reQall and Evernote accounts, log in to your reQall account on the web. Then go to Settings->Evernote. Enter your Evernote account information.
- reQall looks at the titles, tags, and recognized words in your Evernote items to find those that are related to your reQall items. For example, if you have an item in reQall “Visit vineyards in Napa on September 15”, reQall will find any item in Evernote that has the word “Napa” in its title or tags. reQall will also find any images in which Evernote has recognized the word “Napa”.

- When you have a live data connection, reQall automatically syncs your data as you use the application.
- When you do not have a live data connection, your iPhone stores your reQall activities until there is a connection available so that it can sync with the reQall data center.
- reQall automatically attempts synchronization every 15 minutes unless you change the sync default on the Settings Screen. You can also tap the Sync button at any time to sync immediately (if a data connection is available).
- If there are items on your iPhone that have not yet synced with the reQall data center, the "Recent Items" button (
) will indicate this.

- Eyes-free recording: Select ON and you can add items to reQall simply by bringing your iPhone to your ear.

Although it is uncommon, the reQall support team occasionally finds it necessary to recommend that a user remove and re-install the application to solve a support issue. Just in case, here’s how to do it:
- Press and hold down any icon on the iPhone’s Home screen.
- The icons will start to wiggle, and an X will appear in the upper left corner of any items that can be deleted. Tap the X in the corner of the reQall icon to uninstall it. Uninstalling the software does not affect your reQall account.
- To stop the wiggling, tap the Home button below the screen.
- There are two ways to re-install the application. Either connect to your computer via a cable and re-sync your iPhone with iTunes or tap the App Store icon on your iPhone, find the reQall for iPhone application and download it by tapping Free and Install.
