What reQall Understands Back to top

There are two ways to tell reQall what to do with your voice or text message: you can use the In, For and At buttons or you can include keywords that reQall understands in your message. Using the In, For and At buttons overrides any keywords you may have used in your message.

Keyword Location Result
“Buy” Anywhere in the item Adds the item to your  Shopping List.
Example: “Buy milk, eggs, and diapers.”
“Note” First word Creates a Note.
Example: “Note: Jesse’s address is 434 Maple Terrace.”
“Meet” or “Meeting” First word Creates a special kind of To-Do that is labeled as an “event.” For Pro users, meetings go into the Outlook calendar.
Example: “Meet John today at 3:30 pm”
“Ask” or “Tell” or “Remind” [followed by an email address or the name of a reQall contact] First word when adding by text; must use For button when adding by voice Creates a To-Do for your contact.
Example: “Tell Sarah to pick up Maria after school tomorrow.”
If you want it to be added to your contact’s Shopping List, include the word “buy.”
Example: “Remind Roger to buy bread after work today.”
“at work” or “at home” (Pro only) Anywhere in the item Sets the Place for your item.
Example: “Tell Erin to pick up her room at home tomorrow.”

User Tips

  • Items that don't contain any of the above keywords are assumed to be regular To-Dos.

reQall also understands dates and times, including recurring dates.

  • Days of the week ("Monday," "Tuesday")
  • Dates ("January 11," "August 31st," "January 2, 2008")
  • "Today," "tomorrow," "yesterday"
  • "This Thursday" (the first Thursday that occurs after today)
  • "Next Thursday" (the second Thursday that occurs after today)
  • Times such as 10:30, 10:30 p.m., 8 am

Recurring dates include phrases such as "every Friday," "each year on September 15th", and "every month on the second Tuesday." reQall requires recurring dates to follow these rules:

  • The recurring date must be at the end of the item.
  • You must start the phrase with "each" or "every" followed by a time period or day of the week.
  • You can add a time after the phrase. For example, "every Friday at 7:30 p.m."
  • You can add an end date at the end of the phrase, using the word "until." For example, "every Friday at 7:30 p.m. until August 10th."

User Tips

  • If an item has a date but no time, it is created at 9:00 a.m. unless the date is today. Items for today are scheduled 3 hours in the future.
  • If an item has a time but no date, it is created for today, even if the time has already passed.
  • If a time doesn't have a.m./p.m., times from 7:00 to 11:59 are assumed to be a.m. Times from 12:00 to 6:59 are assumed to be p.m.
  • When using text to create an item, numbers must have a colon or an a.m./p.m. to be recognized as a time.
  • When using text to create an item, use two periods (a.m. or p.m) or no periods (am or pm).

reQall Memory Jogger™ Back to top

The Memory Jogger consists of two screens:

  • Here and Now is a dynamically updated list of Jogs related to your current situation (time, place, calendar events). Also, for 7 days after you sign up for reQall, you’ll receive tips here on how to use reQall.
  • Memory Boosts offers Jogs that have been selected from your lists because they are related to your current items, are in danger of being forgotten due to not having been viewed for some time, or are due for a boost to keep your memory strong through repetition and timing.
  • Learn more about the Memory Jogger.

  Places Back to top

reQall Pro lets you associate Places (such as your home, office or local grocery store) with the tasks that need to be accomplished there.
  • Select the Places screen to see a list of your current Places (reQall supplies Home and Work as defaults.) Click on a Place to expand and view the items currently associated with that Place.
  • To add a new Place, press the Menu key and select Add place. Type in a name and then (if you are currently at that Place and want to associate your current geo-coordinates with that Place name) click the Use my current location box. Note that you can create Places that don’t have geo-coordinates associated with them. For example, Project X could be a “Place.” You can then assign all of the tasks associated with Project X to that “Place” and they will be grouped and displayed together.
  • To make changes to a Place, scroll the trackball to that Place listing, press the Menu key and select Show details. You can then change the name or geo-location of that Place.
  • To delete a Place, scroll the trackball to that Place listing, press the Menu key and select Delete.

reQall BlackBerry: Integration with BlackBerry Apps

spacer
Integration with BlackBerry Apps Back to top

reQall integrates with other applications in your BlackBerry smartphone in two ways. First, you can select the “reQall this” option in the BlackBerry menu inside the following BlackBerry applications:
  • Email - Creates a Note in reQall containing the content of the email.
  • Calendar - Creates a To-Do in reQall containing the calendar item.
  • Address Book - Creates a Note in reQall containing the contact information.
  • Memo Pad - Creates a Note in reQall containing the memo.
  • Task List - Creates a To-Do in reQall containing the task.

Second, reQall recognizes “actionable” content in reQall items and allows you to use some BlackBerry functions from within reQall. Actionable content includes phone numbers, email addresses and links. Roll the trackball to highlight the content, click the trackball, and select the relevant menu item (“Call,” “Email” or “Get link”).

  Sharing Reminders Back to top

reQall lets you quickly and easily share reminders with your friends, colleagues and family—even if they’re not reQall users. When you share to another reQall user, the reminder is added to their reQall account. When you share with someone who doesn’t use reQall, the reminder is sent by email. There are several ways to tell reQall who you’d like to share with.
  • If adding by voice or text, you can select the For button and select a contact from the list. Both your reQall contacts and your BlackBerry contacts that include an associated email address will be displayed. A reQall contact is someone you’ve added or imported to reQall on the web, or that you’ve previously shared a reminder with.
  • If adding by text, you can also type “Ask,” “Tell” or “Remind” followed by an email address (“Ask darren123@rmail.com to pick up James”).
  • Once you share with a BlackBerry contact, the next time you can simply include their name in the item (“Ask Darren to pick up James”).
