Shared Reminders
P_contact_inoutItems that you have shared with someone else and those that you’ve received from someone else. Each item includes the name of the person you are sharing it with. The icon indicates the direction of sharing—whether you sent the item or received it from someone else.

You can add, recall and share your To-Dos using the web, a phone or IM. You can also use the Firefox Add-on to add to your To-Dos.

reQall on the web
To add to your To-Do list from the web, log in to your account, and then you can type in your item in the box on the left. When you’re done, click on the “+” icon. reQall will assign due dates to your items if you include dates and times. For example, “Meeting with Sara on June 5 at 10:00 a.m.”  will be put in your To-Do list with the date/time on the item. When “meet” or “meeting” is the first word of the item, reQall places the item in your To-Dos as a meeting item. Meeting items do not have to be specifically marked as completed. If “meet” or “meeting” is not the first word then reQall recognizes it as a regular To-Do item. For a complete list of words that reQall recognizes, check out reQall's vocabulary.

To see your To-Do list on the web, click on My To-Dos. You can see the items that are on your list for “Today,” “Overdue,” “Soon,” “Later” and also “Shared Reminders.” You can edit any of these items from here, change the date/time on them, share the item with another buddy, mark the item as complete and also delete the item. You can also print a specific To-Do list from here by selecting any of the lists under My To-Dos and selecting “Print.” There is more help available on how to reQall on the web.

reQall on the phone
To add an item, call reQall from your phone. Say “add” when prompted. Then just say what you want do. If you want a due date for your item, please say the date/time also. For example, “Meet John today at 10:00 a.m.”

To recall say “recall” when prompted and then reQall will name all your lists. You can then say which one you want to recall. All of your overdue items will be on your list for today.

For quicker access to your To-Do lists you can say any of the following when prompted with “Add, Share or Recall.”

reQall with Instant Messaging
To set up Instant Messaging with reQall:

Once you have a chat window open with reQall via Yahoo Messenger, GTalk, Jabber or AIM you can say “Today”, “Soon”, “Later” or “Overdue” to review the items on the specific To-Do list.

If you want to add an item to your To-Dos then just type it in the chat window. For example, saying “Meet the book club on July 15 at 4:00 pm” will put the item on your To-Do list.

reQall with Firefox Add-on
There are several ways you can add to reQall using the Firefox Add-on.

Need more help? Go to Firefox Add-on.

Putting an item on your buddy’s To-Do list
With reQall you can add an item to your buddy’s To-Do list. Instead of saying “Take the dog to the vet today” you can say “Ask John to take the dog to the vet today.” Any of the words “ask”, “tell” or “remind” will help you share a reminder.

These Shared Reminders are possible when John is your reQall buddy—a contact who is a reQall user and has agreed to share reminders with you. You can go to My Contacts to find out more about setting up a contact to share reminders with. You can also go to Sharing Reminders to find out more about shared reminders.

reQall Tabs: T_shopShopping List

Help_link_top
reQall doesn’t really understand the concept of going to malls, but if you use the word “buy,” reQall will put the item on your shopping list. For example, “Go to the store to buy dog food,”  “Buy a gift for Sara's birthday party” and “Buy myself a one-way ticket to Paradise” will all go on your shopping list. reQall can't tell the difference between buying milk and buying an argument, so “I don’t buy that argument” will also go on your shopping list.

You can add and recall from your shopping list using the web, a phone or IM.

reQall on the web
To add to your shopping list from the web, log in to your account. Once there, you can type in your items in the box on the left. When you’re done, click on the “+” icon. reQall will assign due dates to your items if you include dates and times. For example, “Buy milk, bread and eggs today.

To see your shopping list on the web, click on the T_shop icon.

You can also print your shopping list from the web by clicking on “Print.” This is what your printed shopping list might look like. The due date shows only on items that were added with a date/time.

Incomplete Task buy a birthday present for Susan today Due: 30-Jun-2008 18:10:00
Incomplete Task did I forget to buy distilled water?
Incomplete Task buy milk and bread

reQall on the phone
To add an item, call reQall from your phone. Say “add” when prompted. Then just say what you want to buy, making sure to use the word “buy” in your recording. reQall will not be able to put the item on the Shopping List unless the word “buy” is included. If you want a due date for your shopping item, please say the date/time with your item. For example, “Buy flowers on February 14 at 10:00 a.m.”

To recall, say “recall” when prompted and then say “shopping list” when reQall asks you which list you want to recall. For quicker access to your shopping list you can say “recall shopping,” “recall shopping list,” “recall my shopping” or “recall my shopping list” when prompted with “Add, Share or Recall.”

You can either hear the list on the phone or say “yes” when reQall asks to send it to you as a text message.

Having your complete shopping list sent to you as a text message is a great way to recall your list while you are out shopping.

reQall with Instant Messaging
To set up Instant Messaging with reQall:

Screen_yahoo_shop

Once you have a chat window open with reQall via Yahoo Messenger, GTalk, Jabber or AIM you can say “shopping” to review your existing shopping list.

If you want to add an item to your shopping list just use the word “buy” while listing your items. For example, saying “Buy ice cream tomorrow” will put ice cream on your shopping list with the due date of tomorrow.
You can also receive your Shopping List by email or text message by typing these messages on the IM:

Your message What reQall does
Send shopping [list] [to] email Sends the Shopping List to your registered email address
Send shopping [list] [to] me@thisemail.com Sends the Shopping List to me@thisemail.com
send shopping [list] [to] sms Sends the Shopping List as a text message to your registered phone number

Putting an item on your buddy’s shopping list
Any of the words “ask”,“tell”, or “remind” will help you share a reminder, and using the word “buy” in conjunction with one of these words will put the item on your buddy’s shopping list. For example, “Ask John to buy eggs” will put eggs on John’s shopping list.

These Shared Reminders are possible when John is your reQall buddy—a contact who is a reQall user and has agreed to share reminders with you. You can go to My Contacts to find out more about setting up a contact to share reminders with.

reQall Tabs: T_notesMy Notes

Help_link_top
My Notes is the place to put all of those brilliant ideas you have on the go, your favorite quotes, or that movie you wanted to see but whose name escapes you the minute you log in to Netflix. It’s your space to capture ideas and thoughts that are not time-related tasks.

You can add to My Notes using the web, a phone or IM. Just say “note” and then whatever you want to add. When “note” is the first word, reQall will put the item under “My Notes.” reQall doesn’t look for dates in notes. For example, “Note: Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon on July 21, 1969” doesn’t get a due date for 1969.

reQall on the web
To add to your notes from the web, log in to your account. Once there, you can type in your items in the box on the left. Putting “note” as the first word in your item tells reQall that this item belongs in “My Notes”. When you’re done, click on the “+” icon. You can use dates in the text of your note but reQall is smart enough to leave it at that, your item will not end up with a due date.

To see your notes on the web, click on T_notesMy Notes. You can also edit your notes on the web. You can print all your notes by selecting “Print” and also delete a specific note by selecting “delete.”

reQall on the phone
To add a note, call reQall from your phone. Say “add” when prompted and then just say your note starting with “note.” You can view your notes at any time on the web.

reQall with Instant Messaging

To set up Instant Messaging with reQall:

Once you have a chat window open with reQall via Yahoo Messenger, GTalk, Jabber or AIM you can add your note by typing it in the chat window starting with the word “note.” For example, typing “note remember to smile” will put the item in My Notes.

You can view your notes at any time on the web.

reQall Tabs: T_contactsMy Contacts

Help_link_top
reQall lets you share thoughts and tasks with others so you can help your family, friends or work group stay coordinated. To share with others, you enter them as contacts, invite them to reQall and then invite them to share reminders with you.

P_contactThe first step is to create contacts in “My Contacts” on the web. You can add contacts one at a time or import them from dozens of other programs.

To import contacts:

  1. Select “Import.”
  2. Select the program to import from.
  3. Typically you’ll provide an ID and password to log in to that program and then will be presented with a list of contacts.
  4. Select the contacts you want to import.
  5. Select “Next.”
  6. Select “Done.”

reQall recognizes contacts who are reQall users by their email address or phone number.

P_contact_noneIf any of your contacts aren’t identified as reQall users, you’ll see a page that helps you invite them to join reQall. You can modify the email and select “Send” or select “Skip.” If you decide to “Skip,” at a later time you can invite them to join reQall by clicking “Invite to reQall.”

P_contact_selfIf any of your contacts are identified as reQall users, you’ll see a page that allows you to invite them to share reminders with you. You can modify the email and select “Send” or select “Skip.” If you decide to “Skip,” at a later time you can invite them to share reminders by clicking on “Invite to share.”

P_contact_inoutOnce your contact has accepted your invitation to share reminders, he or she is considered your reQall buddy and you can start sharing reminders. In addition, reQall is automatically shown as a buddy so that you can easily ask questions and share your thoughts with us. As with any other buddy, you can use the web, phone or IM to share with us. For example, you could say “Ask reQall what Memory Jogging is” and we will get right back to you with our reply. It’s that easy.

reQall Tabs: T_historyMy reQall History

Help_link_top
This tab lists all the items that you have ever added to reQall, except the ones that were deleted. It is provided so that you have a record of your reminders even after you’ve completed them or deleted them from your active lists. The tab includes To-Dos, Shopping List items, Shared Reminders and Notes. The items are sorted by the date they were added to reQall. You can print, edit or delete these items.

reQall Tabs: T_reqall Search

Help_link_top
The Search feature is available on the web and allows you to find items from any of your lists based on a search word. It’s a handy tool that can be used creatively in many ways.

For example, you are organizing an event and have shared reminders with your buddies on who’s doing what. You panic as you realize that you don’t know who’s picking up the cake. Take a deep breath and enter “cake” in the search box. reQall will list all the items with the word “cake” and you’ll know who has “cake” on their list.

Once the items come up on your search list you can print, edit or delete them.

The reQall Memory Jogger™ is designed to keep your “organic” memory (i.e., the memory capabilities inside your brain) strong by automatically delivering nuggets of information that exercise your brain. The Memory Jogger anticipates memory needs by looking forward to the things that are coming up in the user’s life, identifying associations among the various data given to reQall, and factoring in how reQall was used in the past.

You can enable Memory Jogging by selecting “Notification” under “Settings.” All you have to do is let reQall know how often you want to jog your memory. The available options for jogging your memory are “Never,” “Once a Month,” “Every Two Weeks,” “Every Week,” “Twice a Week,” “Once a Day,” “Twice a Day,” “Three Times a Day” and “Every Two Hours.”

Screen_web_set_notification

reQall can jog your memory via phone, web, or IM. Your “Notification” setting for reminders determines how you receive your memory jogs.

reQall lets you share thoughts and tasks with others, adding memory power in a natural way that doesn’t just store information or allow you to delegate —it can help you build relationships. To share with others, they must be in your contact list, be a reQall user and agree to share with you. This makes them a reQall buddy.

You can also share with reQall. Tell us what you want added, what isn’t working as you expected, or what you really like. Just say “Tell reQall” or “Ask reQall” or “Remind reQall.” The item will be placed on reQall’s list and we’ll get right on it!

You can share reminders using the web, a phone or IM.

Sharing via the web
Once you are logged in on the web, use the “Add” window on the left to enter what you want to share. For example, “Remind John to prepare the marketing pitch” will put the reminder on John’s list, but you can also see it (and change it) in your shared reminders list. You can enter “tell,” “ask” or “remind” followed by your reQall buddy’s name to share a reminder with them.

Sharing on the phone
Sharing on the phone is a bit different. Once you call reQall on the phone, reQall will ask if you want to add, share or recall. Say “share” and record your item. Then reQall will ask who you want to share this with. This helps us ensure that reQall understood you correctly – we wouldn’t want to share an item with Erin that was meant for Aaron! If there is more than one name on your list of buddies that sounds like the one you say, we will ask you to confirm. If after several tries we can’t get it right, we will put that item on your list. You can then go to reQall on the web and share the item with your buddy.

If you want to share with reQall on the phone, when reQall asks who you want to share the item with, say “reQall.”

Sharing through IM
To set up Instant Messaging with reQall:

Once you have a chat window open with reQall via Yahoo Messenger, GTalk, Jabber or AIM you are ready to share.

Type the words “ask,” “tell” or “remind.”, followed by your buddy's name and then the item you want to share. For example, “Ask Tim to fax the forms on Monday”  will put this item on Tim’s To-Do list and it will also be available for you to view or change on the web.

Sharing a shopping list item
You can also put an item on your reQall buddy’s shopping list through shared reminders. All you have to do is use the word “buy” in addition to “ask,” “tell” or “remind.” For example, “Remind Sara to buy balloons for the party” will put the item on Sara’s shopping list.

Sharing a reminder with a due date
If your shared reminder needs a due date, make sure you say the date/time with the reminder. For example, “Ask Sara to meet me at the mall at three p.m. tomorrow” will put the due date on the shared reminder. You can always change it on the web.

reQall can summarize all your tasks for the day and send it to you via email. This is a really neat way to take a look at what lies ahead before you start the day. Getting a reminder shortly before a meeting is helpful, but it’s also important to see the big picture sometimes. With reQall’s Daily Summary email you have a better handle of what’s coming your way. This email includes your To-Dos for today and also the overdue items.

You can enable the daily summary email from “Notifications” under “Settings” and you can decide exactly when you want to receive this email. You can also switch off this notification at any time.

reQall, like man’s best friend, can understand some of what you say. While “sit,” “stay” and “roll over” aren’t in reQall’s vocabulary, reQall does understand a lot of words. If you’re not sure if reQall will understand something, give it a try. Let us know what additional words you’d like to teach reQall.

Dates and times
Pslct_datereQall understands dates and times like “today at 5:30,” “Tuesday,” “8:00 a.m. on Jan 31st,” “this Friday,” “next Friday” and more. For example, reQall will put “Call my wife on February 14” on your to do list for February 14. With text, times are recognized by either a colon or a.m./p.m. If you use periods with a.m./p.m. make sure you include both the periods. On the phone please say times like “nine fifteen” or “six o’clock p.m.”

Vocabulary
Here’s a handy chart for what you can say:

What you can say Where it is in the item Where reQall puts the item
Dates/Times Anywhere On date/time you said
“Buy” Anywhere My Shopping List
“Ask” “Tell” “Remind” First word Shared Reminders
“Note” First word My Notes
“Meet” “Meeting” First word My To-Dos

Everything else is a To-Do
reQall assumes that anything that isn’t a Note, Meeting, Shared Reminder, or Shopping List item is something that you need to do. Those items get put into My To-Dos with a checkbox waiting for you to mark it done.

Notices
When you are using reQall on the web you will sometimes get notices. These notices are displayed on the left column just above the “Add” box.

Setting up Phone Access
You can go to “Phone Access” under “Settings” and enter up to five phone numbers. reQall will recognize you when you call in from any of those numbers.

You can also enable and set a personal identification number (PIN) on your account. PINs are optional. Some people choose to use a PIN to increase the security of their reQall account. A PIN is required if you want to access your reQall account from phone numbers that you haven’t entered (for example, a pay phone at the airport or the phone at your friend's house). Once you have set the PIN on your account, you will be required to enter the PIN when you call from any phone number, even your registered phone number.

Here’s a visual of what to expect when using reQall on the phone.

“What popped into your head?”
reQall on Firefox has one additional feature. We know that often one thing triggers another in our memory. When you’re looking at the latest football score of your college team, you might remember when you took your wife to a game, and then remember that her birthday is coming up. Before you forget, add a task to reQall by typing into the “What popped into your head?” box. Click on the “+” sign and the item will be added to reQall. The reQall Firefox Add-on recognizes keywords from reQall's vocabulary
